Carry On ... mooooing

Carry On ... mooooing

What’s up? Somehow it seems to already be Monday morning, not Friday midday… (though wrote this yesterday - seems to have been stuck in the outbox)?! Busy week with a big rush on Sundown… I thought we might run out for a day or so but just scraped by with around 12 casks left - more going into cask at the start of next week (has cellar conditioning so is good to go from Tuesday) - anyway, glad lots of people are enjoying it. The Tap Room has been quite a bit quieter in these past 10 days or so - people away? School Holidays? Just annoyed that they missed Nothing Else Matters!? 🤣 Sundown still outselling Moondance there too… first few casks of Comfortably Numb been heading out the door too. No rush on this one, we brewed tons of it precisely because it is so popular and for my money gets ever better with conditioning…
What else? We brewed more Nothing Else Matters - ready soon, we’ve been drinking the Carry On (Cara On) 4.7%, and it is lovely - has a taste of dried mangos in there somewhere - but layers of complexity - going very fast… Pump clip inspired by the lyrics in Carry On - “once I rose above all the noise and confusion, just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion”… We think this is an incredibly unusual beer to be brewed exclusively with Cara Gold malt. So much to unpick in it…wanted to have a second pint in the Tap Room but had quaffed the first one so fast and was driving so sadly could not… will have to bring a good slug home for some “market research”.
What’s on?
Moondance - 4.2% Pale Ale
Alton’s Pride - 3.8% Best Bitter
Sundown - 4.3% Golden IPA
Comfortably Numb - 5% Strong Ale
Cara On - 4.7% Cara Gold Ale
Pressed Rat & Warthog - 3.8% Dark Mild
in Kegs
Barbarian - 4.7% Lager
Jagged Little Pilsner - 5% Pilsner
What’s about? Quite a nice story - so we’re always trying to be that little bit more environmentally friendly… we all of course need to be, but anyway we’re always making tweaks - trying to use less water, to be more efficient with heating and steam etc. - all of which is a clear business alignment with what we are trying to do environmentally… anyway in terms of the waste products - well actually we aim to have almost none… hops get bagged and used as mulch, compost in gardens and the spent mash? Well, it goes a few ways. I think I wrote a while back about our local bakery Loaf making some stunning Moondance Sourdough (still happens once in a while) - and while we’re at it, our local butcher Reads uses our beer in their pies too. Anyway, going a bit more upstream than that - we have a couple of farmers we have FEMAS (putting stuff into the food chain) agreements with and most of it goes to animal feed. What is cool is that winning ingredients can make winning beer AND winning cows! Really delighted to see our farmer friends winning awards all over the place… Well done to the Jackson herd! Seeing some cool stuff like this makes it all the less painful when paying huge bills to make steam lines more efficient!
Anyway - hoping your lovely customers have had their noses in the trough and are as happy as these “customers” above are… and that we can bring you some beer to grace your taps next week,
best wishes,
Xen
P.S.
