Bank 'Holiday' ...
May 25, 2026
What's up? Busy week. I don't think it was just me who hadn't fully clocked it was a bank holiday coming up given the flurry of orders towards end of week! "Holiday" - yeah right, not when you work in hospitality I know but hoping it is a cracker for you regardless.
If you need emergency beer over the period, we will always do our utmost to try and help no promises but God loves a trier as the saying goes... please call my mobile 07495 134507 or WhatsApp... please don't text as I find that sometimes they don't come in when sent and batch arrive (I think my mobile reception at home or some other form of sorcery) anyway the point is please don't text but feel free to call, can't promise to help but promise to try.
Next week looking even busier on the brewing front. Making MORE Lady Eleanor - as is selling so well... we still have some but this has been a real winner.
What's On?
Mr. Brightside is back in kegs - come and bring the team to the brewery and try some in the Tap Room!
What's about?
Normally Moondance and Alton's Pride make up around 66-68% of our trade sales. Year to date however they are at 57%. This is in the context of wherein hard work, relentless QC and us busting our chops is starting to pay off and we've been growing in a very positive way. This growth includes Moondance and Alton's Pride, so it isn't like they are shrinking. What is super interesting to me is that the specials and seasonals now all have easily sufficient gravitas and a following of their own. Obviously data a bit skewed as we keep running out of Satisfaction (have it now though!) and doesn't include Comfortably Numb (I can explain why if interested) - bur otherwise normalised.
Historically we would brew a recipe at least 2x on our 5bbl kit before graduating it to 20bbl then onto 40bbl... I think the only special we have brewed on the small kit this year was Little Red Rooster... aside from that it has been in full time use with Brightside and a special curation for a local customer (happy to have those discussions with you too if you can commit to a min of 20 firkins every 5-6 weeks)
Anyway, what is the conclusion? I delved deep into the data and basically folks who use Moondance and Alton's Pride as their bankers - their known quality beer - have been giving us more trust and trying something different with their new orders... that and adding more pubs to our distribution. Pretty cool that the style of our beers is being appreciated. We are really grateful for that. On that subject if you've got friends in the business that don't stock our beer but could, happy to ship you a case of beer of our choice for the first order following an introduction!... if you don't ask, you don't get and all that!
Anyway - I hope your customers drink the place dry and I hope we can help with some restocking over the weekend or week ahead.
Have a cracker and stay cool,
Xen
P.S.
A bit gutting the VAT not properly extended to hospitality for the summer... but keep the pressure on!
