Storm Bert & Winter Sunsets...
Nov 22, 2024
What’s up? Well, we’re trying to get ready for Christmas (bah humbug!) - so we’ve been brewing a lot of Moondance and Alton’s Pride, as we don’t want to be caught short. We also have casked up the second batch of Little Red Rooster (the first flew) and Winter Sunset is ready to go next week too… the second half of November is usually just head down and work hard for us. That said, in terms of sales it has been OK… seems like folks stocking up as well as typical order size is bigger this week. Everyone we spoke to seemed to be doing OK, nobody doing cartwheels, but getting by. Moondance our dominant beer shipped this week with Sundown very popular too and seeing a marked pickup vs the last couple of weeks.
What’s on? (Sorry a low graphics version as writing this from home as have been hit by a bit of a lurgy and don’t want to make others sick)
Moondance 4.2% Pale Ale - our bestseller and distinct with Cascade hops and almost some delicate elderflower in the hop
Sundown 4.3% Golden IPA - I was drinking this at our Christmas party on Wednesday (having recently been succumbing to the temptations Comfortably Numb) - loved it.
Comfortably Numb 5% Strong Ale - I love the spice of this as the weather cools, though might have been tempted back to Sundown as beer of choice this week!
Pressed Rat & Warthog 3.8% Mild - serial winner/podiums at so many awards for this one…smooth and delicious
Alton’s Pride 3.8% Best Bitter - normally we do our tasting on a Friday in the tap room to make sure all is as it should be but feeling dodgy I won’t be doing that - but this was the beer of choice for the Brewing legends Graham and Pete on Wednesday so that is saying something
Snow-blind 4.2% Oatmeal Stout - I’m no stout expert, but I would say this has bags of flavour and is easy to drink - I always feel full after a couple of stouts, but this is easier quaffing in my opinion.
Winter Sunset 4.6% Pale Ale - hopped with Nectaron hops from New Zealand this is one that really evolves - in the first 5–6 weeks of its life you get candied orange notes with really clean bitterness that just works in the run-up to Christmas [if you brew it at the right time!] - then later it smooths and is maybe a bit more like Old Dray? We brewed quite a lot of this [was popular last year] so I don’t know how long it will last but hopefully for a while!
Little Red Rooster 5.7% Red Ale - the second batch (first one flew) - don’t have a huge a mount of it but if you want some reserved then do let us know.
Wishing you a cracking weekend, hope the storm doesn’t disrupt things and hope we can bring you some beer next week!

P.S.
A sore head, a dodgy yummy and the flu walk into a bar….
"what the hell is this?" says the bartender, “some sort of sick joke?”
sorry!
